What board certification means
Board certification represents the highest level of peer-reviewed verification of competency in clinical neuropsychology. It requires advanced, accredited training beyond general clinical psychology — including a two-year specialized residency — as well as rigorous written examination, review of clinical work, and oral examination.
Why specialized training matters to patients and families
Neuropsychology requires advanced expertise in neuroscience, brain–behavior relationships, and differential diagnosis that goes far beyond test administration.
For children, teens, and young adults, accurate neuropsychological assessment is critical for early diagnosis, appropriate treatment planning, and prevention of problems related to misdiagnosis or delayed care.
